Navajo Nation Boxes

In an effort to keep persons healthy and safe, Flagstaff Pastor Greg Long and CBF West Coordinator Glen Foster delivered care packages to isolated homes on the Navajo Nation near Canyon Diablo in northern Arizona. The Navajo Nation continues to be a hotspot for Covid-19. Individuals receiving boxes full of water, sanitary disinfectants, personal hygiene items, batteries and food ranged in age from seven weeks to almost 100. Conversations and prayer were shared with each family. One lady asked prayer for her son who has been missing for two months. July 20 was only the beginning. Many more boxes will be delivered in future weeks.

Shortly after the pandemic shut down the world, Mark Buhlig started baking bread and offering it to the community in and around Kansas City. Those who received the bread began making contributions to the benevolence fund of Englewood Church, the intent to help in some way with Covid-19 relief.  Learning of the high infection rate on the Navajo Nation, it was decided the money would be donated to CBF West for a relief effort.  What began with a loaf of bread in Missouri gave rise to a mission endeavor that quickly expanded into generous funds from churches and individuals in Albuquerque, Boston, South Carolina, North Carolina and CBF West. Greg and Sheila Long, having grown up on the Reservation, share tremendous compassion for persons living on the native land.  CBF truly is a family that cares and meets needs, wherever those needs arise.

To all who financially made possible this ministry of kindness to the Navajo people, thank you. If you want to monetarily contribute, please contact Glen Foster.
